BBC EastEnders fans are blasting the BBC for neglecting to warn viewers about very distressing scenes which saw villain Nish strangle his wife Suki Panesar in a fit of rage
EastEnders fans are slamming the BBC after they failed to issue a warning before distressing strangling scenes.
Tuesday’s episode (October 17) saw Ravi drag Nugget back to Walford where he revealed Suki told him about his father murdering Ranveer. As the police showed up to investigate Nugget being found, Nish cornered Suki in the kitchen to convince her to tell Nugget she was wrong all along.
She refused and he is soon seen taking her firmly by the arm before strangling her until she forcefully repeats his words and swears to change her story. The intense scenes were slammed by viewers who demanded the BBC explain why there wasn’t any warnings before the scenes aired.
“What the hell why did the bbc not give ANY warning for domestic violence??” slammed one fan. “It’s absolutely disgusting that there was no warning before the episode considering the subject matter taking place # EastEnders,” penned a second.
While a third agreed: “A trigger warning would have been appropriate for this episode I think. This could have been hard to watch for people #EastEnders.” A fourth even referenced the fact that it’s domestic abuse awareness month.
“It’s domestic awareness month and after that episode, where nishs abused turned physical, there was no warning before the ep AND no helpline afterwards. tws help make an informed decision whether it’s safe to watch or not. helplines save lives. so disappointing.” Elsewhere in the episode, Kathy and Rocky went house-hunting and put an offer on a studio flat, but unbeknownst to Kathy, they didn’t have the funds to pay for the deposit due to Rocky’s gambling.
Later, Rocky made a secret deal with Vinny on a cash loan from Nish so he could afford to pay the deposit.
Jay continued to struggle with his grief and asked Gina if she had a drug dealer, but she refused. Later, Gina invited Ben to The Albert to discuss her concerns about Jay, and she accidentally let slip that Jay was using ketamine.
