Danny O’Carroll celebrated his eldest son’s 18th birthday with a heartwarming post dedicated to his “best friend”.
The Mrs Brown’s Boys actor is now the father of an official adult, as well as his younger son Blake, who is 14. He shares the two boys with his wife and co-star Amanda.
Sharing a series of images of his son from his youth, Danny wrote a heartwarming post dedicated to his eldest son. He wrote: “Happy 18th birthday @jamieocarroll7 To say I’m proud of you would be an understatement.
“You are everything and more I could ask for in a son. I feel like the luckiest man, not only because you’re my son, but I also get to call you my best friend. Love you the most Jamie”.
Mrs Brown’s Boys really is a family affair as Jamie has followed in his father and grandfather’s footsteps since he was five years old. In October last year Danny shared a picture of the three generations of O’Carroll men on set together – with Jamie now towering over his elders.
Danny captioned the shot: “3 generations working together. I’m one lucky guy”.
As well as playing the role of Bono on the hit show all these years, Jamie is a talented rugby player.
Danny previously revealed that his son nearly didn’t go through with his Mrs Brown’s Boys role, but now loves working on the show with his family.
He told RSVP Magazine: “I remember collecting him from the airport and he said that he didn’t want to do it anymore, he was too nervous. I said that it was no problem and he didn’t have to do anything.
“I brought him into rehearsals the following day, his grandad had a little chat with him and he agreed to do it.
“From there, he was hooked and everyone wanted him to stay in the cast. He was so good, I don’t know where he gets it from [jokes]!”
The doting dad went on to say that if his two sons decide to go to college, and not pursue acting he will support them no matter what.
He added: “As long as they are happy and healthy, I will be happy. Whether they go down the road of acting or not, it doesn’t bother me.
“There as one stage where Jamie wanted to be a marine biologist and I was a bit shocked. I don’t know where he got that from.
