The Mrs Brown’s Boys creator opens up about spending Christmas in Ireland with his family and his long-standing tradition with Joe Duffy
Brendan O’Carroll jetted home from his Florida base with his wife Jenny to spend Christmas in Ireland.
The Mrs. Brown’s Boys writer and creator and show star spends most of the year in the sunshine state, but he always comes back to Dublin to be with his family for the festive season
For the actor, Christmas isn’t really Christmas unless he is at home with his family and each year he continues a special tradition he first started with the late Gay Byrne three decades ago.
Brendan told RSVP Magazine: “I spend every Christmas in Ireland. My last gig of the year is always Joe Duffy’s radio show on Grafton Street on Christmas Eve morning.
“I look forward to it every year.
“I started doing it when Gay Byrne was the presenter, so that was 30 years ago.
“I love doing it. No matter what happens, we’ll always be in Ireland for Christmas. It’s not really Christmas anywhere else.”
Brendan live in America, but he was reunited with his kids and his extended family to film the festive specials of Mrs. Brown’s Boys in Glasgow back in October. The shows are set to air this week.
He said: “We hadn’t seen each other in months, so it was super.
“It was all hugs and kisses before we got down to business.
“It’s great to be working with them.”
