In a smiling photo posted to the official Mrs Brown’s Boys X page, Irish country music legend Daniel O’Donnell could be seen meeting the cast.

The Donegal native looked as happy as ever as he put his arms around Jennifer Gibney and Eilish O’Carroll for the snap.

The rest of the group, including main man Brendan O’Carroll and Dancing With The Stars finalist Danny O’Carroll, all beamed as they stood for a picture with the singer.

A caption over the image wrote: “A wee treat for mammy today with the unexpected visit of our dear friend Daniel O’Donnell.

“What an absolute tonic, but he’s more my cup of tea #danielodonnell.”

A second snap showed Daniel holding up a visitors pass which had the word “family” written on it.

With rehearsals in full swing for the new series, we’re beginning to think it might not be a coincidence that Daniel was hanging out during the read through.

Could Mr O’Donnell be making a guest appearance in the fifth season? We’ll have to wait and see.

Fans flocked to the comment section to gush over the surprise appearance.

Tony wrote: “Amazing to see Daniel O’Donnell with the cast.”

Rachel said: “Awww how amazing to see this post today, LOVE Daniel.”

While Bethany said: “I can’t wait for this new series! Will Daniel be in it?”

And Ciara remarked: “Love this!”

This comes after news that Mrs Brown’s Boys creator, Brendan O’Carroll, has drafted in a co-writer for the first time to help pen scripts for the TV show.

The Irish Sun recently revealed co-star Paddy Houlihan, who plays Dermot in the sitcom, teamed up with Brendan to write the new mini-series which started rehearsing at BBC Glasgow last week.

Co-star Dermot O’Neill, who plays Grandad on the show, told us: “Brendan has written over 50 episodes of Mrs Brown on his own and he just wants as many new ideas as possible so he has brought Paddy in as a co-writer.”
