Rory Cowan has reunited with members of the Mrs Brown’s Boys cast 7 years after he left the show.
He left the show in 2017 and took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his delight at bumping into former co-star Eilish O’Carroll after a fun night out in Dublin.
Rory is known for his role as Rory Brown, Mrs Brown’s son in the show, while Eilish played neighbour and friend, Winnie McGoogan.
Rory posted on social media that the pair had run into each other and had a great catch up.
He said: “I was at Mr Pussy’s cabaret and brunch show in Foley’s, Merrion Row, today and I was beyond thrilled to meet Eilish O’Carroll there. Winnie McGoogan and I back in Foley’s. It was lovely to meet Eilish again. Old friends are best.
“We had a great old natter. You don’t realise how much you miss someone until you see them again. I love Eilish. Mr Pussy was brilliant too. Hilarious show. It was a great afternoon.”
Posting the above alongside a photo of the pair, Rory relished in having a chance to catch up with an old friend.
Speaking to RSVP Magazine regarding his decision to leave Mrs Brown’s Boys, Rory insists that he has no regrets and that he made the right decision.
He said: “I left for the right reason. I walked away from a fortune, but once I made the decision to leave, it was the easiest decision for me. I had earned quite a lot of money, but my mother was dying.
“We were touring Australia for 12 or 14 weeks and I got word that she had only days to live. She had dementia. I couldn’t come home because I had signed a contract and the insurance only allowed me to come home if a parent or next of kin died.
“I didn’t want to be on the road when she died, and I knew it was coming. I would have felt guilty for the rest of my life.
“If I had stayed with Mrs Brown’s Boys I would have had regrets. My mother was dying and she was the most important thing in the world to me at the time.”
Rory has also commented on whether he will make a return to Mrs Brown’s Boys in the future.
He said in a statement on social media: “I’m getting a lot of messages asking if I’m going back on tour with Mrs Brown’s Boys this summer. No, I’m not.
“James Larkin Court, where the Browns live is an old memory. But if you see them on their tour, at their meet and greets after each show, tell them I said hello.”
