Dancing With The Stars is back on our screens, and fans have been getting a chance to see the celebrities take to the dancefloor for the very first time on tonight’s show

Dancing With The Stars is back on our screens once again, with some of Ireland’s most familiar faces taking to the floor in the hopes of lifting the Glitterball Trophy in a few weeks time.

Among this year’s contestants is Mrs Brown’s Boys star Danny O’Carroll, and viewers at home were quite pleasantly surprised by his performance.

Opening the show, the comic actor has been partnered up with the formidable Salome Chachua.

Danny and Salome were the first pair to take to the competition floor, doing an elegant Foxtrot to the song Obviously by McFly.

While the judges may not have been 100% blown away – giving a total score of 22, with a score of five from Brian Redmond and Loraine Barry and six from Karen Byrne and Arthur Gourounlian – viewers at home were impressed.

“You opened the season in style,” Arthur told Danny, while Brian said: “Buster Brady, you can bust a move!”

Viewers of the show have marked Danny as a potential one to watch in the competition, as they speculated he may be the “dark horse” of the show who could make huge strides in his dance skills and take the crown.

“I’d say Danny is going to be one of those contestants that will end up being quite good a few weeks in,” one social media user said via X.

“My goodness, for week 1 @BbMrsbrownsboys has sweet moves. Could be a dark horse to look out for…” said another.

A third noted that they thought he had almost lost his balance at one point but still did a great job.

“Danny is one to watch… he’s got some moves – even if he nearly did over rotate and fall over.”

Aishah Akorede, Gearóid Farrelly, Jack Woolley, Mickey Joe Harte, Elaine Crowley, Kevin Dundon, Kayleigh Trappe, Yasmin Seky, Rhys McClenaghan and Joanna Donnelly are taking part in this years series alongside Danny.
