Former Mrs Brown’s Boys Rory Cowan hopes thugs who beat TV star Brendan Courtney are ‘punished by courts’

Former Mrs Brown’s Boys Rory Cowan has said he hopes thugs who savagely beat TV star Brendan Courtney are “punished by the courts”.

The Keys To Your Life host revealed he was attacked while walking near his home on Thursday night and was kicked in the head several times.

Rory labelled Dublin city as an “unsafe kip”, and said he hoped Brendan is recovering from his ordeal.

The Fair City actor said: “I’ve just seen a report on the news about Brendan Courtney being attacked in Dublin last night.

“This city is an unsafe kip. I hope Brendan is ok. He’s a lovely, sweet guy who wouldn’t harm a fly. I hope whoever attacked him is caught and punished by the courts.”

Speaking on RTE Radio 1’s Liveline, Brendan said: “Three lads… jumped out and kicked me to the ground and punched me and kicked me in the head five or six times.”
