Rory Cowan ‘in agony’ and misses two days of rehearsals ahead of Sunday’s Dancing with the Stars

The actor and soap star suffers from a condition called plantar fasciitis and has been left in a lot of discomfort this week due to a flare-up but hopes to dance on Sunday

Rory Cowan says he is in agony and has missed two days of rehearsals ahead of Dancing with the Stars this weekend.

The Mrs Brown’s Boys star suffers from a condition called plantar fasciitis which causes painful inflammation in the heel.

Rory has unfortunately suffered a flare-up this week which has had a knock-on effect on his training with professional partner Jillian Bromwich.

The Fair City actor took to social media to explain to his followers all about the condition and how it impacts him.

Rory and Jillian are due to dance a Viennese Waltz this weekend and he is determined to pull through.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Rory said: “My Planter Fasciitis flared up again yesterday and I’m in agony.

“When I put my heel to the floor pain shoots up my left leg. So I’ve had to miss two days of dance rehearsals.

“However my wonderful doctor gave me a pain killing injection into my heel this morning (more agony) and he tells me I’ll hopefully be able to resume my dance rehearsals tomorrow, and fingers crossed I’ll also be ok to dance on #DWTSIrl on Sunday evening on @RTEOne.”

“If you know what Saints to pray to that aids recovery from injury let me know,” Rory jokingly added.

“I’m sure the pain injection will work, but Divine Intervention from the Saints too, just to be sure.”

Rory’s followers were quick to offer their support in the replies.

One wrote: “Wishing you a quick recovery, Rory!”

Another added: “It’s very painful Rory I had it years ago. I went to a clinic they made me insoles which I wore in my shoes for a while. Touch wood I never had any more pain at all. Hope you get some relief soon, take care.”

While a third person said: “That’s painful Rory you have all my sympathy I get it at least once a year and it’s agony.”

It comes after Rory finished bottom of the leader board on last week’s opening show.

He delivered a cheeky Charleston but judges Loraine Barry, Brian Redmond and Arthur Gourounlian wanted more energy and scored him 11 points.

Dancing with the Stars continues Sundays at 6.30pm on RTE One and RTE Player.
