Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ Brendan O’Carroll gives his verdict on Rory Cowan on Dancing with the Stars

The show writer and creator has opened up about his former co-star signing up for this season of Dancing with the Stars – he said the cast and crew are all behind him

Mrs. Brown’s Boys star and creator Brendan O’Carroll has said he is 100 percent behind Rory Cowan on Dancing with the Stars.

Brendan and the team would love to see him lift the glitterball trophy with his pro partner Jillian Bromwich in March and they have done everything they can to back him so far.

Rory left Mrs. Brown’s Boys in 2017 after playing Rory Brown for years on the hit BBC sitcom.

Brendan told RSVP Live: “Rory is going to be brilliant. I would love him to win it and he has got some moves.

“We got a request from the show’s producers asking to use clips from Mrs. Brown’s Boys and I told them to use whatever they like to promote Rory because we want him to win.”

Brendan asked been asked to do numerous reality TV shows in the past, but he has turned them all down. His wife Jenny Gibney, who plays Cathy, competed on Strictly Come Dancing and his sister Eilish, who plays Winnie McGoogan, was on Dancing with the Stars back in 2019.

He joked: “I would rather put a hot needle through the eye of my penis than do any of them. You can take that as a no.”

Rory recently said that has “no regrets whatsoever” over the way things happened on Mrs. Brown’s Boys. But he stressed that there was no row between him and Brendan O’Carroll.

He told RSVP Magazine: “If I had stayed with Mrs Brown’s Boys I would have had regrets.

“My mother was dying and she was the most important thing in the world to me at the time.

“I have been very busy since I left Mrs Brown’s Boys and I’ve been doing things that I would never have done if I stayed, like writing an autobiography, doing panto and being in Fair City.”
